Red Flags When Hiring a Floor Installation Company

There are many benefits to owning a home or business, and that extends to your floors and ceilings. You can easily personalize different areas of your home or commercial space to reflect you or your business. From adding a logo to your carpet, to adding a bold color to your acoustical ceiling, you have countless options for making the space a unique living or working environment. So when it is time to take care of any ceiling or floor installation, one of the biggest concerns customers have is what to look for in an installation company. Sometimes it can be hard to decipher the good companies from the bad, and you want to be sure you have a good company that ensures your floor installation is perfect and that treats you with respect. With years of experience under our belt, Ozburn-Hessey is a great resource for all your installation needs. There are however, a few red flags you should watch for when shopping other companies in the Nashville area. Here are a few to consider:

The company doesn’t have any experience.
Yes, it is true that every company should start somewhere, but all flooring or acoustical ceiling companies should have some sort of portfolio to provide to potential clients. Even if they are a start-up, the owner of the flooring company should have some past work to show from previous jobs and internships. With over 40 years of experience, we have a large portfolio. Our installation crew has long been serving commercial and residential clients alike for hardwood, carpet and acoustical ceiling needs in the Middle Tennessee area.

The company is flaky.
One of the telltale signs of an unreliable company is their missed appointments. The difficulty of contacting them (e.g. missed calls) is also part of this problem. If a company cannot commit to a meeting or has issues with answering phone calls, this is a huge red flag. Communication is crucial to a successful business and without it, the business will surely fail.

The company is not insured.
A flooring and ceiling company should always be licensed and insured. No exceptions. If you come across a company that is not, we do not recommend hiring them. Our team of floor experts are properly insured and licensed, which puts our clients at ease and makes our job much easier.

The company seems pushy.
Have you ever been solicited by a business who requires money up front? Or maybe a salesman that seems overly pushy? This is a huge red flag if you are looking for someone to do your floors. In addition, if they don’t seem honest about the cost for the floor installation, consider a second opinion. Getting new carpet or hardwoods should be a fun experience! You should never feel uncomfortable. If you get a bad vibe from the person you are speaking with, hire someone else.

We understand how tempting it might be to hire an unlicensed, new flooring company for little cost but beware. If at any time you start to see these red flags, reconsider hiring them. Even if you are saving a little on the front end, having an uninsured or inexperienced company working on your flooring or acoustical ceilings can end up costing you even more in the long run. Our flooring and ceiling experts have years of experience under their belt and strive to make the client happy throughout the entire floor installation process. Want more information?
