There’s nothing wrong with something being old! There are countless examples of something that is considered out of date or “last year’s style” making a comeback in time. Anyone living in Nashville or the middle Tennessee area (or just anyone who has visited east Nashville) has probably seen something like this in action a time or two. It doesn’t really seem to apply to flooring, however, as once something leaves the public’s interest, it rarely makes a comeback. This does not have to be the case. If you have tastes that one might describe as “retro,” then own it! That extends to your flooring as well. Finding the right floor, one that you are going to love in your home or office, is something that we feel strongly about here at Ozburn-Hessey, which is why we will do anything to make you happy. That includes installing reclaimed oak hardwood flooring, or resurrecting something that might have been better off dead. I’m looking at you, shag carpeting.
With that in mind, here are some of the best ways to create a retro look for your floors.
Vinyl is the Way of the Future
Modern children just don’t understand the powerful memories that have become associated with vinyl flooring. There is just something about the tactile sensations that instantly transports those who grew up with it underfoot right back to that old home. Luckily, vinyl is one of the flooring materials that has benefited the most from advances in flooring technology. There are lots of benefits to having a vinyl floor, like the ease with which it is installed, or the way it holds up to damage from water and mold. Gone are the days of sticking a flimsy piece of tile down onto the underfloor, only for it to slowly peel back up over the course of several months. That being said, the look and patterns commonly associated with that era are making a comeback, alongside more common options, such as vinyl plank flooring. Simply put, modern vinyl flooring is a great way to make your home or business look a little older than it is, without sacrificing anything in the way of modern comforts.
Know Your Linoleum
Another flooring option for the throwback minded is linoleum. There is a difference between linoleum plank flooring and its chemically created cousin, mainly that linoleum is a much more green option. The downside to this is that vinyl usually has a lot more color and pattern options available, but linoleum also tends to be a bit cheaper. Both are wonderful ideas for homes or businesses that have a budget crunch, but also want to present something that looks nice.
The professionals at Ozburn-Hessey have been in the flooring installation business for a while, so there is a great chance that if you have something in mind, they have probably installed it at one point or another. And with all of the manufacturers available through the store, the material you want is also going to be there. All that needs to happen is for you to pick up the phone and make your old school cool dreams come true.
